So that should end his call for higher taxes, right?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mprnews.org\/story\/2021\/02\/26\/a-budget-thaw-economic-report-to-shape-debate\" target=\"_blank\">Hardly.<\/a><\/p><p>&#8220;But some DFL lawmakers want Walz to stand firm in his call for higher taxes on top earners, corporations and smokers. They say it\u2019s about tax fairness and societal opportunity as much as a deficit fix.&#8221;<\/p><p>Hang on, there is no deficit, there&#8217;s a surplus, so that explanation makes no sense.\u00a0 And taxing top earners makes\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bootsandsabers.com\/2017\/01\/06\/high-earners-flee-minnesota-after-tax-hike\/\" target=\"_blank\">top earners flee the state<\/a>; taxing corporations makes\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.mprnews.org\/newscut\/2010\/02\/fact_check_why_businesses_leav\/\" target=\"_blank\">corporations flee the state<\/a>; and smokers are overwhelmingly lower income people making that\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/taxfoundation.org\/cbpp-says-regressive-cigarette-taxes-are-okay-because-benefit-principle\" target=\"_blank\">tax the most regressive of all of Walz&#8217;s proposals.<\/a>\u00a0 Where&#8217;s the fairness in that?<\/p><p>Puts me in mind of the when Minnesota Democrat legislator Cy Thao accidentally spoke the truth: &#8220;When you guys win, you get to keep your money; when we win, we take your money.&#8221;<\/p><p>Joe Doakes<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Not to mention that time Larry Pogemiller admitted <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=857\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"857\">he really believes government knows better what to do with your money than you do<\/a>. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Wow, Governor Walz is a miracle worker.\u00a0 Despite having the entire state economy locked down for a year with no end in sight, his administration now forecasts a billion-dollar budget surplus.
