{"id":7643,"date":"2010-01-06T08:58:08","date_gmt":"2010-01-06T13:58:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=7643"},"modified":"2010-01-06T08:58:17","modified_gmt":"2010-01-06T13:58:17","slug":"around-the-mob-brad-carlson-16","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=7643","title":{"rendered":"Around The MOB:  Brad Carlson"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Next up on\u00a0 our trip around the MOB is <a href=\"http:\/\/rpc.blogrolling.com\/redirect.php?r=88370d263e9f366ef8fe8ef6dd3669f0&amp;url=http%3A%2F%2Fbradley1969.blogspot.com%2F\">Brad Carlson<\/a>, one of the longer-running blogs in the MOB.<\/p>\n<p>Brad always surprises you.\u00a0 The first time you meet him, you think he&#8217;s one of those mild-mannered, workadaddy\/hugamommy conservatives from Ramsey&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;well, OK, he <em>is <\/em>that.\u00a0 But he was also one of the mainstays of the Twin Cities&#8217; late, lamented &#8220;Protest Warrior&#8221; chapter &#8211; sharp, funny, friendly.\u00a0 And he writes a darn good blog.<\/p>\n<p>I liked <a href=\"http:\/\/bradley1969.blogspot.com\/2009\/12\/tigers-tales.html\">this piece from last month<\/a>, about Tiger Woods&#8217; fall from &#8220;grace&#8221;:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>But then I quickly asked myself why I was so taken aback. I mean, I didn&#8217;t know Tiger personally. I merely saw the utter phenom who did things on a golf course that had literally never been seen. So from that, how is it I could draw the conclusion that he was a man of integrity, a model citizen if you will? It&#8217;s not unlike how I felt when I learned of the <a href=\"http:\/\/sportsillustrated.cnn.com\/baseball\/news\/2003\/03\/11\/si_puckett\/\">secret life of Kirby Puckett<\/a>. I saw a gifted, jovial athlete on the baseball field but knew of literally nothing that took place in Puckett&#8217;s personal life. And that is a life lesson that I have learned the hard way.
