But only “far-right” terror, natch<\/a>: (Emphasis added)<\/p>\n\n\n\n The proposal, which was unveiled Wednesday as part of the state\u00a0Senate<\/a>\u00a0Democrats\u2019 \u201cA Just Connecticut\u201d agenda, would publicly fund a new state police department that specializes in investigating \u201cfar-right extremist groups and individuals,\u201d according to a\u00a0news release<\/a>.<\/p> Senate<\/a>\u00a0President Pro Tem Martin Looney said the proposal is aimed at combating \u201cpotential\u201d hate crimes<\/strong> but stressed that his caucus has no intention of persecuting people for their political beliefs, the Hartford Courant\u00a0reported<\/a>. Big Left has been trying to make “terror” (not to mention “racism, misogyny, white supremacy, Naziism and transphobia”) synonymous with “conservatism” for years – which is almost more insidious than the inevitable statutory persecution that this measure signals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Connecticut Republicans, such as they are, at least are showing some backbone:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cUnfortunately, people who entertain hateful beliefs \u2026 are protected as long as [those beliefs] don\u2019t result in hate-crime actions. That\u2019s what we\u2019re talking about,\u201d Mr. Looney told reporters Wednesday. \u201cWe want to be more aggressive in enforcing our laws and identifying likely sources of potential domestic terrorism acts against religious institutions and ethnic institutions.\u201d
