{"id":73157,"date":"2020-01-24T11:00:33","date_gmt":"2020-01-24T17:00:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=73157"},"modified":"2020-01-24T11:25:57","modified_gmt":"2020-01-24T17:25:57","slug":"hang-onto-your-plumbing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=73157","title":{"rendered":"Hang Onto Your Plumbing"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>So let&#8217;s see if we follow the progression, here. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Years ago, Big Left, via Big Media, started telling us that:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Greenhouse gases were going to kill us<\/li><li>Using energy causes greenhouse gas<\/li><li>Compact fluorescent lights  use less energy. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>And as quick as 1-2-3, compact fluorescents became the law of the land (just in time for compact LEDs, which use less energy, provide better light, and are much cheaper, to come along). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In recent years, Big Media has been:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>telling us that current industrial meat production contributes to greenhouse gases, ergo will kill us all. <\/li><li>trumpeting the virtues of eating insects and caterpillars.  <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Thus, you can count on someone in Big Left pushing policy that&#8217;d encourage, and eventually mandate, the eating of bugs for protein. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of course, &#8220;urban sprawl&#8221; didn&#8217;t fall far behind:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>It encouraged a car-based lifestyle!<\/li><li>Big Media promptly started pushing the virtues of transit-based, high-density life. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>And cities run by Big Left are doing their merry best, as we speak, to abolish the single-family home, the private yard, and the car.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So &#8211; the progression is:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Big Media notes that something we commonly accept is going to kill us. <\/li><li>Big Left&#8217;s apparatchiks push to make a noxious, degrading, expensive alternative mandatory.  <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>I couldn&#8217;t help but think of that pattern when <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/ideas\/archive\/2020\/01\/why-do-american-houses-have-so-many-bathrooms\/605338\/\">read this.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So let&#8217;s see if we follow the progression, here.
