This year\u2019s parade, held on a sunny Sunday in May, \u201cwas a wild success,\u201d the nonprofit noted, that netted a $50,000 surplus. Instead, this break is meant to address bigger, structural issues \u2014 including the parade\u2019s history of marginalizing and appropriating artists of color, Zoll said.<br> \u201cThe first word that comes to mind is gratitude,\u201d said Minneapolis artist and author Junauda Petrus-Nasah. By taking a year off, Heart of the Beast is showing that it wants to do the \u201cbig, healing work\u201d needed to transform.
