The movie came out in 1972.  While Italian-Americans experienced all kinds of discrimination in their day, &#8220;their day&#8221; was between the 1840s and 1940s, when Italian immigration was driving all sorts of transformations in American life.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By 1972, Italians were pretty well established.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anyway, Chris Cuomo isn&#8217;t &#8220;Fredo&#8221; &#8211; incompetent, probably mentally defective.
