Large, perfect diamonds are scarce but women want them.\u00a0 Jewelers manage scarcity by price.\u00a0 Million-dollar paydays are scarce.\u00a0 Publisher\u2019s Clearinghouse manages scarcity by chance.\u00a0 College degrees from Harvard \u2013 managing scarcity by affirmative action \u2013 or USC \u2013 managing scarcity by bribery.
Even food can be scarce.\u00a0 I went to an all-you-can-eat fish fry.\u00a0 The server brought the first portion but no seconds.\u00a0 She explained that too many customers had ordered fish, the restaurant was running run out, they were distributing one-to-a-customer.\u00a0 When I mentioned false advertising, she said: \u201cThat IS all you can eat, that\u2019s all we\u2019re going to give you.\u201d \u00a0Managing scarcity by rationing.
Free college, free health insurance, free medical care, paid free time, Democrats promise it all . . . but society can\u2019t give everything to everybody for free so how will we manage scarcity?\u00a0 The candidates are conspicuously quiet about their plans for that.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\nThey’re being “quiet” in the same sense I”m “ghosting Scarlett Johanson”; telling the truth is not part of the vocabulary. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
