Last February, while riding her motorcycle home from work in suburban Tacoma, Washington, Aubrey Bowlin – a 24-year-old woman who weighs in at about 100 pounds, soaking wet – wound up in a fight fight for her life in a road rage incident with a driver considerably larger than her<\/a>.<\/p>\n

First, he tried to ram her with his car; when that didn’t work, and they were stopped in traffic, he jumped out and started beating and choking the young woman.<\/p>\n

She had already started to lose consciousness when she remembered her permitted firearm, And shot her attacker. The man, Bruce Jones, died of his injuries.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors didn’t press charges \u2013 it was clearly self-defense, right out of the gate.<\/p>\n

Happy ending, right?<\/p>\n

Well, no. Partly, it’s because that thing you’re taught in carry permit training about “using a gun in self-defense is the second worst possible outcome” is exactly correct:<\/p>\n

Still, the past six months have not been easy for her. Post-traumatic stress disorder is constantly with Bowlin.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u201cThe physical injuries have healed, but it\u2019s now the emotional ones that are with me, every second of every day,\u201d she said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\n

Therapy is helpful, but it is the \u201cmost expensive thing I\u2019ve seen, to date,\u201d she said. Because of this, her family and friends have set up a\u00a0<\/span>GoFundMe page for Bowlin<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>to help with the costs of counseling.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And partly, it’s because gun-control advocates are such incredible, mindless, depraved ghouls.<\/p>\n

…an anti-gun website, which puts up photos of people whose lives have been \u201clost to gun violence,\u201d has <\/span>put up a<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/span>photo of this guy<\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>that Aubrey shot, Bruce Jones.<\/span><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The comments on the anti-gun website page about Mr. Jones are pretty scathing; The owners apparently never got the memo from gun-grabber central about never engaging with or recognizing the existence of their opposition.<\/p>\n

But this sort of behavior is nothing new; many of the “children” counted as “victims of gun violence” gang members under the age of 21. It’s still a tragedy, to be sure – as is every life lost to gang violence – and some of the “mass shootings” shown on websites purporting to track mass shootings are self defense shootings with three or more attackers killed or wounded.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
