{"id":66576,"date":"2018-04-16T11:00:54","date_gmt":"2018-04-16T16:00:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=66576"},"modified":"2018-04-15T12:53:07","modified_gmt":"2018-04-15T17:53:07","slug":"the-progressive-cage-match","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=66576","title":{"rendered":"The Progressive Cage Match"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The CD8 DFL had a\u00a0<em>very\u00a0long\u00a0<\/em>convention on Saturday,\u00a0 After ten ballots, everyone promised to go to the primary.<\/p>\n<p>Nothing especially unusual htere.<\/p>\n<p>The unusual thing?\u00a0 The DFL trucked a bunch of Latino activists from the Twin Cities to canvass for the Metro DFL&#8217;s chosen candidate.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Phifer, a college professor who previously worked at the Federal Bureau of Investigation and federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.minnpost.com\/politics-policy\/2017\/10\/leah-phifer-different-kind-candidate-congress-politics-minnesota-s-eighth-di\">initially entered the race to challenge incumbent DFL Rep. Rick Nolan.<\/a><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">When Nolan\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.minnpost.com\/politics-policy\/2018\/02\/rep-rick-nolan-will-retire\">announced his retirement in February<\/a>, Phifer had the advantage of a five-month head start over the four candidates who jumped into the race afterward.
