These days, a lot of the “classic rock” bands that were the stuff we all sang along with at parties in the seventies and eighties – Styx, Journey, REO Speedwagon, Def Leppart, Poison, Motley Crue, Boston, Foreigner, Rush, Head East and the like – are playing the State Fair circuit.\u00a0 They haven’t put out albums – or at least serious albums – in years, maybe decades.\u00a0 There’d be no real point to it; do you want to hear anything Boston did after “Don’t Look Back?”.\u00a0 That Foreigner did after “Jukebox Hero?”\u00a0 They are playing the nostalgia circuit, slopping the trough with the stuff their fans want to hear.<\/p>\n
Now, that can never happen to the first-generation punk rock crowd.\u00a0 Because we were iconoclasts wouldn’t never, ever..ever…<\/p>\n
