{"id":63877,"date":"2017-07-27T06:00:57","date_gmt":"2017-07-27T11:00:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=63877"},"modified":"2017-07-26T21:25:28","modified_gmt":"2017-07-27T02:25:28","slug":"backwards-schadenfreud","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=63877","title":{"rendered":"Backwards Schadenfreud"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m not sure what I like most about the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.citypages.com\/music\/the-ambitious-plan-to-save-twin-cities-radio-station-kfai\/435251783\">proposed plan to save KFAI Radio<\/a> &#8211; the long- running &#8216;Publicly-Supported&#8221; Pacifica affiliate in the west bank (where, I note in full disclosure, I was a volunteer news guy 25 years ago, trying to find a way to infiltrate the MPR Borg).<\/p>\n<p>Is it the idea that a plucky underdog might survive against the MPR juggernaut (MPR&#8217;s former generalissimo, Bill Kling, spent decades trying to extinguish small community stations, the better to snarf up their funding sources)?<\/p>\n<p>Could be.<\/p>\n<p>But I think it&#8217;s the fact that the plan involves actual radio people bringing some actual radio programming common sense to the station, which endlessly cheeses off the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=38004\">sort of people who&#8217;ve been killing off these sorts of &#8220;community&#8221; stations<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m not sure what I like most about the proposed plan to save KFAI Radio &#8211; the long- running &#8216;Publicly-Supported&#8221; Pacifica affiliate in the west bank (where, I note in full disclosure, I was a volunteer news guy 25 years ago, trying to find a way to infiltrate the MPR Borg).
