…what struck me the most about President Trump’s speech in Warsaw<\/a>. \u00a0 \u00a0The fact that it was an excellent speech – presidential, inspirational – but that showed he’s got an interest in Making Western Civilization Great Again…<\/a><\/p>\n

…or the fact that Big Left found a way to poo-poo the value of Western Civilization: <\/a><\/p>\n

In his\u00a0speech<\/a>\u00a0in Poland on Thursday, Donald Trump referred 10 times to \u201cthe West\u201d and five times to \u201cour civilization.\u201d His white nationalist supporters will understand exactly what he means. It\u2019s important that other Americans do, too.<\/p>\n

\u2026\u00a0The West is a racial and religious term. To be considered Western, a country must be largely Christian (preferably Protestant or Catholic) and largely white.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And here we go.<\/p>\n

Yep. The society that first recognized the value of the individual, that figured rights were endowed to us by our creator and not government, that decided every government rules\u00a0by consent of the governed<\/em>, happened to be caucasoid and Christian; elements of western history and Christian faith make both amendable to those ideas.<\/p>\n

What do critics like Peter Beinart want? \u00a0To make Western civilization more like all those non-western, non-Christian civilizations?<\/p>\n
