{"id":62727,"date":"2017-04-12T11:00:28","date_gmt":"2017-04-12T16:00:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=62727"},"modified":"2017-04-12T13:25:32","modified_gmt":"2017-04-12T18:25:32","slug":"downfall","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=62727","title":{"rendered":"Downfall!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>North Dakota Democrats &#8211; who haven&#8217;t won a statewide office since 2008, and don&#8217;t actually have enough legislators to fill their committee assignments in the NoDak state legislature &#8211; have the same city mouse\/country mouse divide that Minnesota DFLers do; Democrats from Fargo and Grand Forks, bodies scarcely less dogmatically &#8220;progressive&#8221; than their cousins in Minneapolis, have come to dominate the imploding party.<\/p>\n<p>How much do they dominate it? \u00a0According to Rob Port, they <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sayanythingblog.com\/entry\/senator-heidi-heitkamp-apparently-heckled-address-party-north-dakota-democrats-fracture\/?utm_source=Forum+Communications+Company&amp;utm_campaign=368cf816db-SAB_DAILY_EMAIL&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_term=0_8a78114b8c-368cf816db-234201129\">heckled North Dakota&#8217;s sole significant elected Democrat<\/a>, Senator Heidi Heidtkamp at a recent &#8220;reorganization&#8221; meeting.<\/p>\n<p>Best part? \u00a0The urban simps are so ungodly (Ungoddessly?) ouy-of-control that the rural wing of the party is thinking about splitting up along lines that go back nearly 100 years:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201c[Rural Democrats] were completely ignored,\u201d [Rob Port&#8217;s]\u00a0source said, adding that he wasn\u2019t sure what the message for the party would be in 2018 but added that it \u201cdamn sure won\u2019t be rural friendly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA number of districts wanted an economic message coming out of the party,\u201d my source continued, adding that there was also a desire to communicate to voters that \u201cnot all Democrats are against oil.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cThey were completely ignored,\u201d my source said.<br \/>\nSaying that some are calling the party the \u201cDemocrats of the Red River Valley,\u201d my source added that \u201csome people are talking seriously about splitting from the party and reforming the NPL.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That would be the Nonpartisan League part of the Democratic-NPL, the history of which you can brush up on here.<\/p>\n<p>My sources pointed to a Facebook event created for a \u201cNew NPL Caucus Meeting\u201d scheduled for July.
