Dear ELCA,<\/p>\n

One of your reverends is lying through her impeccable teeth:<\/p>\n

Your reverend keeps telling black people and Muslims that the HR288, the “Self Defense Reform Act”, is a special danger to them, because, she says, it’ll allow people to shoot people who “make them feel uncomfortable”.<\/p>\n

It’s a lie. \u00a0Nothing more – and if you take your Ten Commandments seriously, nothing less.<\/p>\n

The Reverend has had the truth about this matter explained to her, repeatedly. \u00a0“That hoodie \/ disdasha<\/em> \/ person’s skin color made me scared” is not grounds to use lethal force in self defense1<\/sup>.<\/p>\n

Ever!<\/p>\n

She is not “mistaken”, and she certainly isn’t telling the truth. \u00a0She is not only willfully misleading people – she’s using her clerical office to lend her lies credence.<\/p>\n

Is this the example your clergy should be setting?<\/p>\n

[1] For those who’ve been under a rock – or, worse, listening to Reverend Nord Bence, the criteria to use lethal force are:<\/p>\n

  1. You can’t be the aggressor<\/li>\n
  2. You must be reasonably afraid of being killed or mained,\u00a0now<\/em>. \u00a0Not in an hour.<\/li>\n
  3. You must use only enough force to end the threat.<\/li>\n
  4. You must make every reasonable effort to avoid using force. \u00a0“Stand your Ground” laws modify this, and\u00a0only\u00a0<\/em>this, crierion!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
