{"id":608,"date":"2007-03-20T14:49:49","date_gmt":"2007-03-20T20:49:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/index.php\/index.php\/2007\/03\/20\/brutal-stifling-of-dissent\/"},"modified":"2007-03-20T14:49:49","modified_gmt":"2007-03-20T20:49:49","slug":"brutal-stifling-of-dissent","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=608","title":{"rendered":"Brutal Stifling of Dissent!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/washingtontimes.com\/national\/20070320-120435-3136r.htm\">Ahem<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>A NASA scientist [James Hansen, director of NASA&#8217;s Goddard Institute for Space Studies]\u00a0who said the Bush administration muzzled him because of his belief in global warming yesterday acknowledged to Congress that he&#8217;d done more than 1,400 on-the-job interviews in recent years.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Censorship?\u00a0 Nah.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>However, the Administration <em>would <\/em>be justified in calling the guy a panty-waisted drama queen:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Mr. Hansen refused to denounce earlier comments he made referring to the White House as a &#8220;propaganda office,&#8221; and saying, &#8220;It seems more like Nazi Germany or the Soviet Union than the United States.&#8221;<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0&#8220;I was referring to the constraints of speaking to the media,&#8221; Mr. Hansen said, when asked about his comments.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u00a01,400 interviews.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s like he&#8217;s got a number tattooed on his forearm.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Republicans questioned him about his ties to prominent Democrats.\u00a0<br \/>\nMr. Hansen received a $250,000 grant from the Heinz foundation, which is controlled by Teresa Heinz Kerry, wife of Sen. John Kerry, Massachusetts Democrat. Mr. Hansen was a vocal supporter of Mr. Kerry&#8217;s 2004 presidential campaign.<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0&#8220;As far as I know, there&#8217;s no political connection to this award,&#8221; said Mr. Hansen, who has donated several thousand dollars to past presidential campaigns for Mr. Kerry and Mr. Gore. &#8220;It&#8217;s an environmental award.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Mr. Hansen; you might have a future with the Minnesota Monitor.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ahem: A NASA scientist [James Hansen, director of NASA&#8217;s Goddard Institute for Space Studies]\u00a0who said the Bush administration muzzled him because of his belief in global warming yesterday acknowledged to Congress that he&#8217;d done more than 1,400 on-the-job interviews in recent years.
