{"id":60073,"date":"2016-08-26T05:00:03","date_gmt":"2016-08-26T10:00:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=60073"},"modified":"2016-08-24T16:43:08","modified_gmt":"2016-08-24T21:43:08","slug":"planning-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=60073","title":{"rendered":"Planning"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Joe Doakes from Como Park emails in re tomorrow&#8217;s &#8220;Gun Buyback for Artists&#8221; in Minneapolis:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Minneapolis is having a gun buy-back [tomorrow].\u00a0 I\u2019m thinking of dumping some relics from my gun locker.\u00a0 I need SITD readers to check my reasoning.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">After Hillary is elected, the economy collapses and the Zombie Apocalypse hits, when there is no ammo left on the shelves, we\u2019ll have to scrounge for ammo which means bartering with thieves who steal it.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Where will they steal it?\u00a0 From government storage, as the government will be the only ones with a supply line.\u00a0\u00a0 So we\u2019re looking at standard government calibers; the government doesn\u2019t stock weapons chambered for exotic ammo so that will be impossible to find.\u00a0 Weapons chambered in exotic calibers will be useless, even for barter.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">What will be considered \u201cexotic\u201d at that time?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">.45 ACP was popular after WW II and Special Forces use it now, but ordinary military does not.\u00a0 They won\u2019t be stocking it in quantity after The Crash.\u00a0 That ammo will be highly desirable but hard to find.\u00a0 Exotic.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">.38 Special and .357 Magnum were popular cop revolvers until about 2000; nobody carries wheel guns as primary weapons.\u00a0 They won\u2019t be stocking that ammo in quantity after The Crash.\u00a0 Backup guns and snub-nose hold-outs, maybe, but how much ammo will they store for them?\u00a0 Not much.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">.40 S&amp;W was popular with cops for a short time because the FBI tried it; but as of June, the FBI is going to 9mm.\u00a0 St. Paul PD switched from .40 Glocks to 9 mm Glocks five years ago. \u00a0I suspect law enforcement is going softer and smaller because women and minorities can\u2019t handle the bigger pistols with the hotter loads but the reason doesn\u2019t matter \u2013 what matters is what ammo they will have in stock.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Okay \u2013 so police, federal law enforcement and military are all going 9 mm.\u00a0 That\u2019s the pistol round I\u2019ll have the easiest time scrounging.\u00a0 Which means dump pistols chambered for .22 LR, .380, .38 Special, .357 Magnum, .40 S&amp;W, .45 ACP.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Now for rifles, it\u2019s a different story.\u00a0 .22 LR in a rifle is a fine squirrel\/rabbit gun.\u00a0 And everybody shoots .223\/5.56 in the AR15.\u00a0 Those will be fine to keep around.\u00a0 I might even consider a Hi-Point 9mm Carbine; the maximum effective range is only about 100 yards but since the ammo is compatible with my pistol ammo<\/span><span class=\"s2\">,<\/span><span class=\"s1\"> I only need one caliber in the backpack.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">But for pistols, I\u2019m seeing a shift in the prevailing wind away from exotics.\u00a0 I might as well take some items to the gun buy-back: liberate space in the gun locker and get paid by Liberals to do it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">What do you think?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Joe Doakes<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p2\">I think there&#8217;s no better way to start a bunch of gunnies duking it out that to broach this topic.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Which is fun!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Joe Doakes from Como Park emails in re tomorrow&#8217;s &#8220;Gun Buyback for Artists&#8221; in Minneapolis: Minneapolis is having a gun buy-back [tomorrow].\u00a0 I\u2019m thinking of dumping some relics from my gun locker.\u00a0 I need SITD readers to check my reasoning.
