\nLiberals want to strip gun rights from people on the No Fly List.\u00a0 The only civil rights group standing up for the constitutional rights of citizens is the National Rifle Association.<\/span><\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/span>But wait, didn\u2019t the ACLU also object?\u00a0 Sort of.\u00a0 The ACLU objects to using the No Fly List in its present form<\/i> to deny civil rights.\u00a0 If there was an easier way to get your name off the list, the ACLU would be fine with using it to block gun purchases.<\/span><\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/span>That idea flips constitutional law on its head. \u00a0The Founders explained in the Declaration of Independence that Rights come from God, not from government.\u00a0 The Constitution exists to protect our Rights from the government.\u00a0 Therefore, the government should not have the power to arbitrarily take away Rights and then allow citizens to beg to get them back (ACLU version).\u00a0 The government should bear the burden of proving why the citizen\u2019s Rights should be taken away BEFORE the Rights are taken (NRA version).<\/span><\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/span>To see how absurd the ACLU\u2019s plan is, try substituting other rights.\u00a0 \u201cJournalists on the No Truth List are forbidden to publish anything bad about Hillary Clinton.\u00a0 But you can request a special waiver to get off the list.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0 Or how about \u201cWomen on the No Fetus List are forbidden to get an abortion.\u00a0 But you can submit an application to get your name removed from the list.\u201d\u00a0 Can you imagine the ACLU\u2019s response?<\/span><\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/span>Justice Thomas wrote a dissenting opinion to the new Whole Women\u2019s Health abortion case, saying: \u201c . . . our Constitution renounces the notion that come constitutional rights are more equal than others.\u201d \u00a0Too bad it\u2019s only a dissent; the country would be better off if more people believed that.<\/span><\/p>\n
