{"id":59260,"date":"2016-06-20T05:00:06","date_gmt":"2016-06-20T10:00:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=59260"},"modified":"2016-06-19T09:09:06","modified_gmt":"2016-06-19T14:09:06","slug":"the-rule-slalom","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=59260","title":{"rendered":"The Rule Slalom"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Joe Doakes from Como Park emails:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Victorian women were sheltered, modest, protected from anything that might upset them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Hedonists are people living non-traditional lifestyles, the fringe that became hippies proclaiming free sex, free love, free drugs to expand your consciousness and blow your mind while you let it all hang out.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">Modern women want to be Victorian Hedonists \u2013 they want to drink until they pass out at frat parties but not be scolded when the obvious bad thing happens.\u00a0 They want a free college education but must be protected from books that threaten their narrow worldview. \u00a0They demand to be admitted to men\u2019s clubs on equality grounds, then demand to exclude men from safe spaces reserved for women.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">It\u2019s either a completely new philosophy or it\u2019s mental illness, I\u2019m not expressing an opinion.\u00a0 My question: is Victorian Hedonism the basis for a sustainable society, or a harbinger of doom?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">Joe Doakes<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\">These days, you&#8217;d be nuts to bet against &#8220;harbinger&#8221;.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Joe Doakes from Como Park emails: Victorian women were sheltered, modest, protected from anything that might upset them.
