{"id":58897,"date":"2016-05-24T05:00:52","date_gmt":"2016-05-24T10:00:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=58897"},"modified":"2016-05-23T19:03:25","modified_gmt":"2016-05-24T00:03:25","slug":"unplanned-obsolescence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=58897","title":{"rendered":"Unplanned Obsolescence"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Joe Doakes from Como Park emails:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Star Tribune playing <a href=\"http:\/\/adimages.startribune.com\/mcu\/startribune-interstitial_v3.html?sz=\/7932\/website\/web_test\/interstitial_core&amp;w=640&amp;h=480&amp;dsmid=1964881&amp;aa=9&amp;cl=1&amp;ref=http%3A\/\/www.startribune.com\/black-defendants-white-jurors-does-race-make-a-difference-in-the-courtroom\/379597921\/\"><span class=\"s2\">the race card for Somali terrorists<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0 The reporter asks why there are no Blacks on the jury.\u00a0 The reporter is stuck in a mental rut, asking the wrong question.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">Americans are entitled to a trial by a jury of their peers, but what does that mean?\u00a0 \u201cBlack\u201d in the context of American racial relations means \u201cdescendant of African slaves.\u201d\u00a0 Those Blacks are supposedly entitled to special privileges as compensation for centuries of slavery and Jim Crow which included all-white juries convicting Blacks solely on the basis of race.\u00a0 The courts have elaborate procedures to protect Black defendants\u2019 right to a fair trial.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">\u201cBlack\u201d in this context does not mean \u201canybody whose skin color is darker than mine<\/span><span class=\"s3\">.<\/span><span class=\"s1\">\u201d Somali immigrants were never slaves in America, they never suffered under Jim Crow, they\u2019re not entitled to special privileges as redress.\u00a0 American Blacks might look upon Somali refugees as brothers-in-arms because they\u2019re all struggling against The White Man;
