Name a movie that you have seen more than 10 times.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Not as many as I&#8217;d have liked.\u00a0 <em>Casablanca, <\/em>of course, I&#8217;ve seen 44-46 times.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve probably seen <em>Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back,\u00a0 Return of the King, Maltese Falcon, Das Boot, LA Confidential <\/em>and <em>The Usual Suspects<\/em> somewhere close to ten times each, although who&#8217;s counting?<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>2. Name a movie that you\u2019ve seen multiple times in the theater.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Very few!\u00a0 Being all half-Norwegian and all, that kinda goes against my genetics.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The only ones that jump to mind are <em>Rocky Horror Picture Show <\/em>(it&#8217;s not like you can watch that one on your VCR, right?), <em>First Blood, <\/em>probably <em>Star Wars <\/em>and <em>Rocky, <\/em>and that was about it.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>3. Name an actor that would make you more inclined to see a movie.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve gone to a couple of movies strictly to see Marisa Tomei.\u00a0 It&#8217;s led me into bummers (<em>What Women Want<\/em>) and stunners (<em>Welcome to Sarajevo<\/em>).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Probably Kate Winslet and Paul Giamatti.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>4. Name an actor that would make you less likely to see a movie.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I can&#8217;t think of any.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>5. Name a movie that you can and do quote from.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Casablanca, This Is Spinal Tap, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Life of Brian <\/em>all jump to mind.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>6. Name a movie musical that you know all of the lyrics to all of the songs<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Probably not what they&#8217;re looking for, but the only two I can think of are <em>Tommy <\/em>and <em>Quadrophenia. <\/em>Which aren&#8217;t really &#8220;musicals&#8221;,\u00a0but I&#8217;ve never really gotten into them.\u00a0 I used to know all the drum parts to <em>Cabaret&#8230;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>UPDATE:\u00a0 After reading <a href=\"http:\/\/bigstupidtommy.blogspot.com\/2007\/03\/movie-meme.html\">Tommy&#8217;s entry<\/a>, I need to add &#8220;every Disney movie that came out when my kids were little&#8221; &#8211; <em>Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Little Mermaid&#8230;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>7. Name a movie that you have been known to sing along with<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Quadrophenia!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Bell Bo-ee! <em>Carry the bloody baggage out!&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>And probably &#8220;<em>This Is Spinal Tap&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Livin&#8217; in a HELL HOLE!\u00a0 Don&#8217;t wanna die in a HELL HOLE!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>8. Name a movie that you would recommend everyone see.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>An Inconvenient Truth.\u00a0 <\/em>Not.<\/p>\n<p>I really loved <em>Lost In Translation<\/em>, although I don&#8217;t think a lot of people &#8220;get&#8221; it.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>The Big Red One <\/em>is one of my favorite war movies &#8211; I tip it to war movie buffs all the time.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>9. Name a movie that you own.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Not all that many!<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>10. Name an actor that launched his\/her entertainment career in another medium but who has surprised you with his\/her acting chops.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Eminem was actually really good in <em>Eight Mile.\u00a0 <\/em>And this might get me drummed out of the League of Irate Conservative Talk Hosts, but I thought Ludacris was excellent in <em>Crash.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Oh &#8211; Dwight Yoakam was great in <em>When Trumpets Fade <\/em>and <em>Sling Blade. <\/em>I had no idea it was him, in either movie.\u00a0 Impressive.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>11. Have you ever seen a movie in a drive-in? If so, what?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We had a drive-in in Jamestown when I was little, and I remember going there with my parents.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t remember <em>any <\/em>of the movies.\u00a0 I <em>do <\/em>remember throwing up macaroni hot dish after we got home from one movie there, though.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>12. Ever made out in a movie?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Um, yeah.\u00a0 Most recently &#8211; well, the make-out was more memorable than the movie.\u00a0 Can&#8217;t remember which movie it was.<\/p>\n<p>It was not <em>The English Patient <\/em>or <em>Leaving Las Vegas, <\/em>if that helps.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>13. Name a movie that you keep meaning to see but just haven\u2019t yet gotten around to it.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>So many.\u00a0 Movies were not a huge part of my life growing up &#8211; we didn&#8217;t even <em>have <\/em>a theater in Jamestown for a couple of years.\u00a0 Red&#8217;s got me jonesing to see a <em>lot <\/em>of things &#8211; old Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman films I&#8217;ve missed over the years, Hitchcock stuff, this and that and the other thing.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>14. Ever walked out of a movie?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Very rarely.\u00a0 I&#8217;m half Norwegian, remember?\u00a0 If I think a movie&#8217;s going to stink, I don&#8217;t waste the money.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve only walked out on two, ever.\u00a0 I bailed on <em>The Burbs, <\/em>a movie Tom Hanks made during his fall from grace between <em>Big <\/em>and <em>Philadelphia, <\/em>where he kinda jumped the shark for a couple of years.\u00a0 Awful, horrible movie.\u00a0 And one time, the kids wheedled me into taking them to <em>Little Nicky, <\/em>the worst Adam Sandler movie ever.\u00a0 I marched us outta there in about ten minutes.<\/p>\n<p>I <em>almost <\/em>left <em>Red Dawn <\/em>after about twenty minutes, but stuck it out.\u00a0 I still debate that decision; the movie remains the guiltiest of all guilty pleasures.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>15. Name a movie that made you cry in the theater.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t cry.\u00a0 But <em>Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind <\/em>was incredibly emotionally affecting.\u00a0 And I&#8217;ll go along with Red &#8211; <em>A Walk To Remember <\/em>was very, very good (and would have been better had Nicholas Sparks been able to write a story that didn&#8217;t have such a schmaltzy, overblown, artificial ending).<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>16. Popcorn?<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Light butter.\u00a0 The Riverview in Minneapolis makes the best popcorn ever &#8211; sorry, Uptown Theater, but it&#8217;s the truth.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>17. How often do you go to the movies (as opposed to renting them or watching them at home)?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>10-12 times a year.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>18. What\u2019s the last movie you saw in the theater?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Casino Royale <\/em>at the Roseville (a second-run $2 house).<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>19. What\u2019s your favorite\/preferred genre of movie?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Noirs, good war movies, and just about anything with a really good story.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>20. What\u2019s the first movie you remember seeing in the theater?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Bambi.\u00a0 <\/em>At the Grand in Jamestown.\u00a0 I think I was 4.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>21. What movie do you wish you had never seen?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>The Phantom Menace. <\/em>That movie made me <em>angry!\u00a0 <\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>22. What is the weirdest movie you enjoyed?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Not sure how to answer that.\u00a0 Nothing is really &#8220;weird&#8221; to me; I am a pretty nonsequential person.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>23. What is the scariest movie you\u2019ve seen?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t really go to scary movies much.\u00a0 I figure if I want to be scared, I&#8217;ll just lie in bed and contemplate my life for a while.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I got wheedled into seeing <em>The Ring <\/em>once.\u00a0 Hated hated hated it.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>24. What is the funniest movie you\u2019ve seen?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Too many to count.\u00a0 Movies where I remember laughing so hard I thought I was going to be hurt:\u00a0 <em>Airplane, Naked Gun, A Fish Called Wanda <\/em>(John Cleese&#8217;s Russian scene), and, much as it shames me to admit it, the &#8220;terrorist&#8221; scene in <em>Jackass Number Two.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s been a while since I&#8217;ve done one of Red&#8217;s memes.
