President Obama is taking credit for full employment.\u00a0 The economy is roaring.\u00a0 The unemployment rate is under 5%.\u00a0 The recession is over.<\/p>\n
Or is it?\u00a0 The BLS says we didn\u2019t gain 195,000 jobs, we lost 665,000 jobs<\/a>.\u00a0 So are those people unemployed?\u00a0 Turns out, it depends on what the meaning of \u201cunemployed\u201d is.\u00a0 We\u2019re back in Clinton-land.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n <\/p>\n The red line is U3 \u2013 people who are unemployed and have looked for work within the past four weeks<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The grey line is U6 \u2013 people who are unemployed and have looked for work within the past year<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The blue line is an estimate of people who are unemployed and have not looked for work within the past year because there\u2019s no point \u2013 there are no jobs for people with their education and experience.\u00a0 They\u2019ve given up hope<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, this Federal Reserve study concludes at least some of the unemployment is caused by immigrants<\/a>.\u00a0 President Obama\u2019s most recent plan would exacerbate the problem<\/a>.<\/p>\n What it tells me is:\u00a0 all the numbers are lies.\u00a0 The government agencies lie to us, they lie to each other, they lie to the media.\u00a0 It\u2019s like the old Soviet Union claiming record harvests as they beg the UN for food because harvests were so bad.<\/p>\n I don\u2019t think this is the Full Employment that we were looking for.<\/p>\n Joe Doakes<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Honesty has fewer opportunities for graft.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Joe Doakes from Como Park emails: President Obama is taking credit for full employment.\u00a0 The economy is roaring.\u00a0 The unemployment rate is under 5%.\u00a0 The recession is over.
