{"id":56517,"date":"2015-12-08T12:00:29","date_gmt":"2015-12-08T18:00:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=56517"},"modified":"2015-12-09T13:01:05","modified_gmt":"2015-12-09T19:01:05","slug":"blood-on-the-pc-merchants-hands","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=56517","title":{"rendered":"Blood On The PC Merchants&#8217; Hands"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In 1994, in a church parking lot off of Sixth and Arcade on the East Side\u00a0of St. Paul, Guy Harvey Baker,\u00a0a deranged Gulf War\u00a0veteran, shot and killed a Saint Paul\u00a0police officer &#8211; Ron Ryan Jr.<\/p>\n<p>Baker\u00a0then drove towards a woman, standing in the door of the nearby apartment building across the parking lot, to eliminate the only eyewitness.<\/p>\n<p>A man in an apartment building across the street, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=46701\">Lyle Granlund<\/a>,\u00a0who happened to be an expert marksman &#8211; and had a loaded handgun at hand\u00a0&#8211; considered shooting the murderer. \u00a0But then, he reconsidered \u2013 thinking that Tom Foley, the Ramsey County attorney and Wahhabi DFLer &#8211; would likely prosecute him with just as much zeal as he would the\u00a0cop killer.<\/p>\n<p>So instead, Granlund\u00a0shot to mark the car \u2013 putting rounds through the\u00a0back windshield, lodging them quite intentionally in the dashboard and glove box, saving a round in case Baker came after him next. \u00a0Baker took off, to be found later that day (via the broken back window), leading to a further shoot out that killed another St. Paul policeman, Officer Tim\u00a0Jones, as well as his dog Laser. \u00a0Had Granlund not feared\u00a0prosecution (quite legitimately \u2013 Foley\u00a0did, in fact, try to prosecute him, and stopped only when\u00a0the St. Paul police refused to cooperate), Baker\u00a0would have ended his spree\u00a0in that parking lot, with one dead, and Officer Jones would have lived to\u00a0serve another day.<\/p>\n<p>Political correctness killed a police officer.<\/p>\n<p>And it&#8217;s tragic to see that we have learned absolutely nothing from the event.
