Let\u2019s talk numbers.\u00a0 Exact numbers change constantly so we\u2019ll use round numbers.\u00a0 We\u2019re talking Big Picture here.<\/p>\n
There are 300 million people in the country.\u00a0 There are 30,000 gun deaths per year: 19,000 suicides, 10,000 murders, 500 \u201caccidental discharges\u201d and the rest are undetermined.\u00a0\u00a0 Round numbers.<\/p>\n
2\/3 of gun suicides are White men middle-aged or older<\/a> who already own their firearms.\u00a0 More than half of the 10,000 murders are committed by young Black men, mostly killing other young Black men<\/a>.\u00a0 The vast majority of them were committed with pistols and the killers did not purchase their firearms legally<\/a>.<\/p>\n
Liberals don\u2019t care about Old White Men committing suicide (given how much they blame us for everything wrong with society, that might be considered a feature of gun violence, not a bug). \u00a0They don\u2019t really care about Young Black Men shooting each other in Chicago ghettos because Liberals don\u2019t live in ghettos so it doesn\u2019t threaten them.<\/p>\n
The scary thing for Liberals is the 20-something White male with mental health \u201cissues\u201d who comes on campus with a gun, or to the shopping mall, or the movie theatre.\u00a0 Suicide is personal to the victim, no threat to me; violence in the ghetto might as well be in Africa \u2013 out of sight, out of mind; but random violence where I live is intolerable.\u00a0 So Liberals propose to ban all guns everywhere to get at the one or two crazies who cause the problem they\u2019re really concerned about.\u00a0\u00a0 Same theory as grade school: one kid farted but wouldn\u2019t own up to it so the entire class lost our recess privileges.\u00a0 Liberals never grow up, I guess.<\/p>\n
Of course, it never occurs to Liberals that the threat is not crazy people with guns, but crazy people.\u00a0 Why not lock up the loons and leave me alone?<\/p>\n
