{"id":55771,"date":"2015-10-21T06:00:40","date_gmt":"2015-10-21T11:00:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=55771"},"modified":"2016-02-07T12:39:15","modified_gmt":"2016-02-07T18:39:15","slug":"lott-of-facts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=55771","title":{"rendered":"Lott Of Facts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Many thanks to Dr. John Lott &#8211; partly for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/article\/425802\/gun-free-zones-don%27t-save-lives-right-to-carry-laws-do\">his piece in National Review yesterday<\/a> expanding on the work that is rapidly ripping the guts out of the left&#8217;s meme that &#8220;a good guy with a gun&#8221; doesn&#8217;t save lives and that gun free zones are anything but safe-criminal areas&#8230;:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>But the deterrent and life-saving effects of concealed-handgun laws on mass public shootings aren\u2019t just anecdotal. Bill Landes of the University of Chicago and I gathered data on mass public shootings from 1977 to 1999. We studied 13 different types of gun-control laws as well as the impact of law enforcement, but the only law that had a statistically significant impact on mass public shootings was the passage of right-to-carry laws.
