Does that mean state government WANTS 2.5 employees injured or killed on the job?\u00a0 Of course not.\u00a0 Every injury or death is a tragedy to the people involved.\u00a0 But in a large and diverse workforce engaged in hazardous duties, some injuries and deaths are inevitable and unavoidable.\u00a0 The state isn\u2019t attempting to eliminate all injuries and deaths, they\u2019ve set a realistic and obtainable goal to work toward.\u00a0 2.5 isn\u2019t the optimum level, but it\u2019s an acceptable level.\u00a0 Having decided that, they can adopt practices to reach that goal.<\/p>\n
Gun Control advocates often justify their demands saying \u201cif it saves even one life\u201d but zero deaths is just as much an unrealistic and unobtainable goal as zero worker\u2019s comp injuries.\u00a0 There are 320,000,000 people in the United States, 2,500,000 of whom die every year.\u00a0 Every injury or death involving a firearm is a tragedy to the people involved.\u00a0 But society must set a realistic and obtainable goal to work toward.<\/p>\n
How many people should die each year in firearms related incidents \u2013 suicide, death by cop, gang warfare, mass shootings?\u00a0 What\u2019s the \u201cacceptable level?\u201d \u00a0Until we decide that, we can\u2019t adopt practices to reach the goal.<\/p>\n
