{"id":5509,"date":"2009-10-06T12:10:17","date_gmt":"2009-10-06T17:10:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=5509"},"modified":"2010-07-07T20:08:58","modified_gmt":"2010-07-08T01:08:58","slug":"attention-advertisers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=5509","title":{"rendered":"Attention, Advertisers!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tired of investing your hard-earned ad dollar in skeezy bloggers that <a href=\"http:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/news\/FTC-Bloggers-must-disclose-apf-468964868.html?x=0&#038;.v=2\">just get you in trouble with the feds<\/a>?<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Federal Trade Commission on Monday took steps to make product information and online reviews more accurate for consumers, regulating blogging for the first time and mandating that testimonials reflect typical results.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Note that I have never once given a distorted review of a product or service.<\/p>\n<p>(Or an undistorted one, for that matter.\u00a0 How the <em>heck<\/em> does one get that kind of business, anyway?)<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div class=\"mod-group\" id=\"y-article-related\" \/>The FTC will require that writers on the Web clearly disclose any freebies or payments they get from companies for reviewing their products.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Heh.\u00a0 Heh <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=1806\">heh<\/a>.\u00a0 Heh heh <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=3630\">heh<\/a> heh.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The commission also said advertisers featuring testimonials that claim dramatic results cannot hide behind disclaimers that the results aren&#8217;t typical.<\/p>\n<p>The FTC said its commissioners voted 4-0 to approve the final guidelines, which had been expected.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><!--- Insert the sidebar information --><!-- Article Related Media -->Here at <em>Shot In The Dark, <\/em>we&#8217;re not especially worried; we&#8217;ve never made a nickel for anything that wasn&#8217;t either clearly an advertisement or strictly disclosed.<\/p>\n<p>Not that Doug, Roosh and I aren&#8217;t willing to try.\u00a0 Just saying &#8211; we don&#8217;t need no steeking FTC to tell us our ethics.<\/p>\n<p>Try us!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tired of investing your hard-earned ad dollar in skeezy bloggers that just get you in trouble with the feds?
