The phone rings. Who will it be?<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Mortgage sales weasels.\u00a0 Over and over and over and over and over&#8230;<br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><br \/>\n2. When shopping at the grocery store, do you return your cart?<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Always. They&#8217;re no fun for joyriding anymore.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">3. In a social setting, are you more of a talker or a listener?<br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\nI wind up talking a lot, which stinks, since I&#8217;d rather listen&#8230;<br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><br \/>\n4. Do you take compliments well?<br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\nWell?\u00a0 Sure.\u00a0 Gracefully?\u00a0 Not so much.\u00a0 Often?\u00a0 Pshaw.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">5. Do you play Sudoku?<br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\nI&#8217;ve never even thought about starting.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">6. If abandoned alone in the wilderness, would you survive?<br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\nFor how long?\u00a0 I probably know some of the basics well enough to get by for a while.\u00a0 On a desert island with nothing but a volleyball for company?\u00a0 That might be trouble.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">7. Did you ever go to camp as a kid?<br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\nMusic camp in 7th and 8th grade.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">8. What was your favorite game as a kid?<br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\n&#8220;Escape&#8221;.\u00a0 It was a fairly elaborate and utterly engrossing game we could <em>only <\/em>play on my dad&#8217;s\u00a0(brick) porch.\u00a0 It was an L-shaped porch.\u00a0\u00a0The game involved two &#8220;guards&#8221; and\u00a0any\u00a0number of &#8220;POWs&#8221;.\u00a0 The &#8220;POWs&#8221; stayed at the top of the &#8220;L&#8221;.\u00a0 One &#8220;guard&#8221; walked back and forth on the bottom of the &#8220;L&#8221;; the other, back and forth in my dad&#8217;s side yard (below the bottom of the &#8220;L&#8221;).\u00a0 The &#8220;POWs'&#8221; goal was to make it, utterly unseen, back to my Dad&#8217;s garage.\u00a0\u00a0They&#8217;d jump off the dropoff at the top of the &#8220;L&#8221;, and try to sneak back to the garage.\u00a0 But if a &#8220;guard&#8221; saw them at any point and yelled out &#8220;FREEZE&#8221; and their name and location (&#8220;FREEZE!\u00a0 Radish, behind the garbage can!&#8221;),\u00a0they were &#8220;busted&#8221; and had to sit in the &#8220;Cooler&#8221; (yes, we&#8217;d all just watched <em>The Great Escape<\/em>) at the bottom of the &#8220;L&#8221; for five minutes; if you got busted twice, you had to be a &#8220;guard&#8221; (so everyone got rotated through pretty fast).<\/p>\n<p>Although the guards had to walk (broadly) back and forth, getting to the garage was a lot harder than it sounds.\u00a0 You could shoot straight across the back yard &#8211; but it was fairly open, and you&#8217;d get caught.\u00a0 Or you could sneak around the neighbors&#8217; houses &#8211; but the mad dash to the garage was pretty exposed.\u00a0 Or you could crawl down the sidewalk all the way around the block and work your way up the alley &#8211; but the guard at the bottom of the &#8220;L&#8221; had a decent vantage point to catch that sort of thing.\u00a0 It taught us all a lot of useful skills; stealth, psychology,<\/p>\n<p>My dad, naturally, <em>hated <\/em>having scads of pre-teens jumping off his porch and crawling about neighbors&#8217; yards.\u00a0 I didn&#8217;t really understand why until I had kids of my own.\u00a0 But it was a great game, if I say so myself &#8211; and yes, I invented most of it.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">9. If a sexy person was pursuing you, but you knew she was married, would you?<br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\nNoooo. Not even for Scarlett Johannson.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">10. Could you date someone with different religious beliefs than you?<br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\nNope.\u00a0 It&#8217;s been a bit of a buzzkill on a few otherwise promising dates over the past ten years.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">11. Do you like to pursue or be pursued?<br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\nTotal pursuer.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">12. Use three words to describe yourself?<br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\nGary Larson Lives.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">13. Do any songs make you cry?<br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\nI never cry.\u00a0 But if I did, and songs could provoke it, it&#8217;d probably be &#8220;Here Comes a Regular&#8221; by the Replacements.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">14. Are you continuing your education?<br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\nAlways. Just not formally.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">15. Do you know how to shoot a gun?<br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\nYes!\u00a0 And I <em>love <\/em>it!\u00a0 It&#8217;s the best stress relief there is that doesn&#8217;t require another person.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">16. Have you ever taken pictures in a photo booth?<br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\nNope.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">17. How often do you read books?<br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\nDaily?<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">18. Do you think more about the past, present or future?<br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\nProbably the future.\u00a0 It&#8217;s really my big hope.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">19.
