It’s been a while.\u00a0 Let’s do a meme<\/a>:<\/p>\n

1. The phone rings. Who will it be?<\/span><\/p>\n

Mortgage sales weasels.\u00a0 Over and over and over and over and over…
\n
\n2. When shopping at the grocery store, do you return your cart?<\/span><\/p>\n

Always. They’re no fun for joyriding anymore.<\/p>\n

3. In a social setting, are you more of a talker or a listener?
\n<\/span>
\nI wind up talking a lot, which stinks, since I’d rather listen…
\n
\n4. Do you take compliments well?
\n<\/span>
\nWell?\u00a0 Sure.\u00a0 Gracefully?\u00a0 Not so much.\u00a0 Often?\u00a0 Pshaw.<\/p>\n

5. Do you play Sudoku?
\n<\/span>
\nI’ve never even thought about starting.<\/p>\n

6. If abandoned alone in the wilderness, would you survive?
\n<\/span>
\nFor how long?\u00a0 I probably know some of the basics well enough to get by for a while.\u00a0 On a desert island with nothing but a volleyball for company?\u00a0 That might be trouble.<\/p>\n

7. Did you ever go to camp as a kid?
\n<\/span>
\nMusic camp in 7th and 8th grade.<\/p>\n

8. What was your favorite game as a kid?
\n<\/span>
\n“Escape”.\u00a0 It was a fairly elaborate and utterly engrossing game we could only <\/em>play on my dad’s\u00a0(brick) porch.\u00a0 It was an L-shaped porch.\u00a0\u00a0The game involved two “guards” and\u00a0any\u00a0number of “POWs”.\u00a0 The “POWs” stayed at the top of the “L”.\u00a0 One “guard” walked back and forth on the bottom of the “L”; the other, back and forth in my dad’s side yard (below the bottom of the “L”).\u00a0 The “POWs'” goal was to make it, utterly unseen, back to my Dad’s garage.\u00a0\u00a0They’d jump off the dropoff at the top of the “L”, and try to sneak back to the garage.\u00a0 But if a “guard” saw them at any point and yelled out “FREEZE” and their name and location (“FREEZE!\u00a0 Radish, behind the garbage can!”),\u00a0they were “busted” and had to sit in the “Cooler” (yes, we’d all just watched The Great Escape<\/em>) at the bottom of the “L” for five minutes; if you got busted twice, you had to be a “guard” (so everyone got rotated through pretty fast).<\/p>\n

Although the guards had to walk (broadly) back and forth, getting to the garage was a lot harder than it sounds.\u00a0 You could shoot straight across the back yard – but it was fairly open, and you’d get caught.\u00a0 Or you could sneak around the neighbors’ houses – but the mad dash to the garage was pretty exposed.\u00a0 Or you could crawl down the sidewalk all the way around the block and work your way up the alley – but the guard at the bottom of the “L” had a decent vantage point to catch that sort of thing.\u00a0 It taught us all a lot of useful skills; stealth, psychology,<\/p>\n

My dad, naturally, hated <\/em>having scads of pre-teens jumping off his porch and crawling about neighbors’ yards.\u00a0 I didn’t really understand why until I had kids of my own.\u00a0 But it was a great game, if I say so myself – and yes, I invented most of it.<\/p>\n

9. If a sexy person was pursuing you, but you knew she was married, would you?
\n<\/span>
\nNoooo. Not even for Scarlett Johannson.<\/p>\n

10. Could you date someone with different religious beliefs than you?
\n<\/span>
\nNope.\u00a0 It’s been a bit of a buzzkill on a few otherwise promising dates over the past ten years.<\/p>\n

11. Do you like to pursue or be pursued?
\n<\/span>
\nTotal pursuer.<\/p>\n

12. Use three words to describe yourself?
\n<\/span>
\nGary Larson Lives.<\/p>\n

13. Do any songs make you cry?
\n<\/span>
\nI never cry.\u00a0 But if I did, and songs could provoke it, it’d probably be “Here Comes a Regular” by the Replacements.<\/p>\n

14. Are you continuing your education?
\n<\/span>
\nAlways. Just not formally.<\/p>\n

15. Do you know how to shoot a gun?
\n<\/span>
\nYes!\u00a0 And I love <\/em>it!\u00a0 It’s the best stress relief there is that doesn’t require another person.<\/p>\n

16. Have you ever taken pictures in a photo booth?
\n<\/span>
\nNope.<\/p>\n

17. How often do you read books?
\n<\/span>
\nDaily?<\/p>\n

18. Do you think more about the past, present or future?
\n<\/span>
\nProbably the future.\u00a0 It’s really my big hope.<\/p>\n

19. What is your favorite children\u2019s book?
\n<\/span>
\nLove You Forever<\/em>.<\/p>\n

20.What color are your eyes?
\n<\/span>
\nBlue.<\/p>\n

\nOn a wilderness island a fifteen minute boat ride from Manhattan.<\/p>\n

23. If your house was on fire, what would be the first thing you grabbed?

\nAssuming my kids are safe?\u00a0 A photo album.

\n24. When was the last time you were at Olive Garden?
\n<\/span>
\nDecember, 2003.\u00a0 Date from…well, not hell.\u00a0 Date from Richfield.\u00a0 That’s it.<\/p>\n

25. Where was the furthest place you traveled today?
\n<\/span>
\nSo far?\u00a0 I picked up my laptop by my bed.\u00a0 Around 8:30, I’ll bike to work.<\/p>\n

26. Do you like mustard?
