SCENE: \u00a0Bill GUNKEL, former Republican and now chairman of the Inver Grove Heights chapter of “Former Republicans for Ron Paul”, is driving down a Saint Paul street when he notices Mitch BERG walking his dog. \u00a0GUNKEL pulls over and rolls down his window. \u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

GUNKEL: Hey, Berg!<\/p>\n

BERG: (Choking back mild annoyance, ordering the dog to sit) Hey, Bill.<\/p>\n

GUNKEL: \u00a0Boy, Donald Trump sure showed those squishy RINOs in the GOP presidential field how it’s done!<\/p>\n

BERG: \u00a0Huh. \u00a0How so?<\/p>\n

GUNKEL: \u00a0He told it like it was! \u00a0He said the things that no Republican would dare to say! \u00a0He said what needed to be said on immigration!<\/p>\n

BERG: \u00a0OK. \u00a0And that means what?<\/p>\n

GUNKEL: \u00a0That means he really pissed off the Establishment!<\/p>\n

BERG: \u00a0Huh. \u00a0And that, then, means what?<\/p>\n

GUNKEL: \u00a0He might be a Republican I could vote for again!<\/p>\n

BERG: \u00a0Because he “tells it like it is”, and “pisses off the Establishment”?<\/p>\n

GUNKEL: \u00a0Yep! (grins like a toddler who just made a big pants<\/em>)<\/p>\n

BERG: \u00a0Yeah, let me show you something. \u00a0(Clears throat, takes deep breath<\/i>) \u00a0 “We need to complete the border fence, enforce existing laws on immigration, and crack down on hiring illegal workers. \u00a0And Karl Rove is wrong, and the Tea Party is right. \u00a0And I think Scarlett Johannson would dig me”.<\/p>\n

There. \u00a0I just told it like it was on immigration, and pissed off the establishment.<\/p>\n

GUNKEL: \u00a0(blinks, puzzled<\/i>)<\/p>\n

BERG: \u00a0I just did everything Donald Trump did. \u00a0I said a couple of things that pander to a voter bloc, but that I’ll never have to try to convince a single legislator to pass, or a single taxpayer to fund. \u00a0In other words, I just said stuff.<\/p>\n

GUNKEL: \u00a0(blinks, puzzled<\/i>)<\/p>\n

BERG: \u00a0Talk is cheap.<\/p>\n

GUNKEL: \u00a0(blinks, puzzled<\/i>)<\/p>\n

BERG: \u00a0The only thing I lack is a media to lavishly publicize what I’m saying, by way of trying to discredit the GOP, and especially to draw the conversation away from the likes of people like Scott Walker and Marco Rubio and Rand Paul, who are actually saying things the American people\u00a0need to hear<\/em>.<\/p>\n

GUNKEL: \u00a0(Shakes it off<\/em>) \u00a0You’re a RINO.<\/p>\n

BERG: \u00a0Clearly.<\/p>\n
