{"id":5413,"date":"2009-09-15T12:22:34","date_gmt":"2009-09-15T17:22:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=5413"},"modified":"2009-09-15T12:22:34","modified_gmt":"2009-09-15T17:22:34","slug":"i-want-to-ride-my-bicycle-just-like-starting-over","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=5413","title":{"rendered":"I Want To Ride My Bicycle:  Just Like Starting Over"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last year, I managed to commute via bike pretty much every day from late April to early October.\u00a0 I managed to get into the best shape I&#8217;ve been in in decades.\u00a0 It was <em>great<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>This year?\u00a0 Ugh.\u00a0 Not so much.<\/p>\n<p>A family commitment left me driving to appointments early every morning for the past 11 weeks or so.\u00a0 That squeezed out most daily biking, of course; I got in the occasional weekend ride, but riding once a week doesn&#8217;t have the same effect as being out there every single day.<\/p>\n<p>But school&#8217;s back in session, and things are clipping along generally fairly well &#8211; so yesterday, it was back in the saddle.<\/p>\n<p>And&#8230;ugh.\u00a0 I feel like it&#8217;s mid-April all over again.\u00a0 Although to my credit, I managed the end-of-day climb up Cathedral Hill without any huffing and puffing, so maybe I held up better than I thought.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway &#8211; the plan is to ride every possible day until the weather makes it utterly impossible &#8211; and by utterly, I mean &#8220;drifts over my 27&#8243; wheels&#8221;.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Or at least that&#8217;s what I mean at the moment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last year, I managed to commute via bike pretty much every day from late April to early October.\u00a0 I managed to get into the best shape I&#8217;ve been in in decades.\u00a0 It was great.
