{"id":5370,"date":"2009-09-08T07:18:02","date_gmt":"2009-09-08T12:18:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=5370"},"modified":"2009-09-08T07:18:02","modified_gmt":"2009-09-08T12:18:02","slug":"casualties","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=5370","title":{"rendered":"Casualties"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Politico counts <a href=\"http:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/stories\/0909\/26799.html\">the Administration&#8217;s\u00a0casualty list<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The latest one grabbed me; it&#8217;s the twerp with absolutely zero experience in the auto industry who became Obama&#8217;s car czar:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>When the Treasury Department announced on July 13 that Steve Rattner, the private equity executive who headed the president&#8217;s Auto Task Force, would return to the private sector, Secretary Tim Geithner said Rattner&#8217;s work in Washington was essentially done.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;With GM&#8217;s restructuring complete, Steven Rattner, whose leadership and vision were invaluable to the Auto Task Force&#8217;s efforts, has decided to transition back to private life and his family in New York City,&#8221; Geithner said in a statement. &#8220;We are extremely grateful to Steve for his efforts in helping to strengthen GM and Chrysler, recapitalize GMAC, and support the American auto industry. I hope that he takes another opportunity to bring his unique skills to government service in the future.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>But that sounds like it&#8217;s becoming the Obama Administration equivalent of &#8220;Good Job, Brownie&#8221;:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But Rattner&#8217;s departure wasn&#8217;t the end of the Auto Task Force. Indeed, even as Geithner announced Rattner&#8217;s job as done, he announced that Ron Bloom, a former banker and union official serving as an adviser to Treasury, would take over Rattner&#8217;s responsibilities.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>For months, Rattner&#8217;s tenure had been plagued by stories of a New York-based investigation into Rattner&#8217;s firm, Quadrangle Group, and allegations that it had illegally obtained a <a class=\"kLink\" id=\"KonaLink2\" style=\"position: static; text-decoration: underline !important\" onmouseover=\"adlinkMouseOver(event,this,2);\" onmouseout=\"adlinkMouseOut(event,this,2);\" onclick=\"adlinkMouseClick(event,this,2);\" href=\"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/#\" target=\"_top\"><font color=\"blue\" style=\"position: static; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: blue !important; font-weight: 400\"><span class=\"kLink\" style=\"position: relative; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: blue !important; font-weight: 400\">management<\/span><\/font><\/a> role in New York&#8217;s public pension fund.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Blame all the noise at the town hall meetings&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Politico counts the Administration&#8217;s\u00a0casualty list.
