{"id":53069,"date":"2015-05-01T12:00:23","date_gmt":"2015-05-01T17:00:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=53069"},"modified":"2015-05-01T09:46:33","modified_gmt":"2015-05-01T14:46:33","slug":"surplus-of-stupid","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=53069","title":{"rendered":"Surplus Of Stupid"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SCENE: \u00a0Mitch BERG is ordering a Banh Mi sandwich at iPho on University. \u00a0Avery LIBRELLE enters the store.<\/p>\n<p>LIBRELLE: \u00a0Hey, Merg! \u00a0 After four years, Minnesota&#8217;s economy is rocking under Mark Dayton, while Wisconsin is sucking pond water!<\/p>\n<p>BERG: \u00a0How do you figure?<\/p>\n<p>LIBRELLE: \u00a0Minnesota has a $2 Billion surplus<\/p>\n<p>BERG: \u00a0Right. \u00a0After raising taxes by&#8230;$2 Billion. \u00a0Now, if the economy is humming along, you&#8217;d think that the surplus would be bigger than the tax increase, now, wouldn&#8217;t you?<\/p>\n<p>LIBRELLE: \u00a0At least Minnesota\u00a0<em>has\u00a0<\/em>a surplus!<\/p>\n<p>BERG: \u00a0Right &#8211; apparetly, entirely due to the tax hikes. \u00a0In the meantime, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?sa=t&amp;rct=j&amp;q=&amp;esrc=s&amp;source=web&amp;cd=6&amp;cad=rja&amp;uact=8&amp;ved=0CEEQFjAF&amp;url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.maciverinstitute.com%2F2014%2F05%2Fwisconsin-to-finish-fiscal-year-2015-with-100-million-budget-surplus%2F&amp;ei=Io1DVcDpMMXzsAWdpYGYDQ&amp;usg=AFQjCNFtQFsb2gPFQOKQVoZ1ZGZF4BGIxA&amp;sig2=-lJEJBYegq9uNcZ747kfzQ\">Wisconsin is headed toward a surplus<\/a> without the need for tax hikes &#8211; or, as we call it, a\u00a0<em>sustainable\u00a0<\/em>surplus.<\/p>\n<p>LIBRELLE: \u00a0Yeah, but our economy is still better!<\/p>\n<p>BERG: \u00a0 Most of Minnesota&#8217;s growth is in metro-area medical, medical device, insurance and financial services companies &#8211; the ones that benefitted from Obamacare and &#8220;Too Big to Fail&#8221; stimuli. \u00a0Things aren&#8217;t nearly as rosy in Greater Minnesota. \u00a0In the meantime, Wisconsin&#8217;s growth is being held back by the slow manufacturing sector &#8211; which is a much bigger share of Wisconsin&#8217;s economy than Minnesota&#8217;s, and isn&#8217;t doing all that well here, either.<\/p>\n<p>LIBRELLE: \u00a0If Minnesota had elected Tom Emmer governor in 2010, we&#8217;d be in the same boat!<\/p>\n<p>BERG: \u00a0Right. \u00a0We&#8217;d have two economies being dragged down by Democrat policies.<\/p>\n<p>LIBRELLE: \u00a0What?<\/p>\n<p>BERG: \u00a0The parts of Wisconsin that are dragging the state&#8217;s economy are the ones that have been run by Democrats for generations. \u00a0The decay of Milwaukee&#8217;s manufacturing base is the state&#8217;s biggest economic problem.<\/p>\n<p>LIBRELLE: \u00a0Hah! \u00a0But in Minnesota, it&#8217;s the Democrat-run cities that are winning&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>BERG: \u00a0&#8230;as a result of national Democrat probrams to transfer wealth from consumers to banks and health insurance companies.<\/p>\n<p>LIBRELLE: \u00a0You should issue a rape trigger warning.<\/p>\n<p>BERG: \u00a0Clearly.<\/p>\n<address><em><\/em>[<em>And SCENE<\/em>]<\/address>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SCENE: \u00a0Mitch BERG is ordering a Banh Mi sandwich at iPho on University. \u00a0Avery LIBRELLE enters the store.
