{"id":52053,"date":"2015-03-17T09:00:20","date_gmt":"2015-03-17T14:00:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=52053"},"modified":"2015-03-17T11:33:38","modified_gmt":"2015-03-17T16:33:38","slug":"break-out-your-maroon-shirts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=52053","title":{"rendered":"Break Out Your Maroon Shirts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tonight, and Thursday morning, the legislature is going to be debating a bill \u2013 HF722, sponsored by representative Jim Newburger \u2013 which would prevent government from confiscating civilian firearms during states of emergency.<\/p>\n<p>This is no idle worry; after Hurricane Katrina, the police went door to door through the storm ravaged neighborhoods, confiscating peoples firearms, leaving them helpless in the face of looters and thugs.<\/p>\n<p>There are going to be two rounds of hearings:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tonight at 6 PM, in the Civil Law committee. This will be in room 500, at the State office building. You can park for free in lot AAA, at Aurora and rice, after 4 PM \u2013 and meters are generally open along John Ireland Boulevard after business hours, too.<\/li>\n<li>Thursday morning at 10:15 AM in the Public Safety committee. This will be in room 10 at the state office building.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Second Amendment humans rights advocates are on the offensive, this session \u2013 but that doesn&#8217;t mean anything is a shoe in. Showing up at hearings, or calling your legislators, is still essential. \u00a0Maybe moreso than ever.<\/p>\n<p>Any DFLer who votes against this bill is essentially tipping their hand; they won&#8217;t &#8220;waste a crisis&#8221;, and if offered the chance will use that crisis as an excuse to extort firearms from the law abiding citizen.
