{"id":51059,"date":"2015-02-05T12:00:34","date_gmt":"2015-02-05T18:00:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=51059"},"modified":"2015-02-05T05:56:35","modified_gmt":"2015-02-05T11:56:35","slug":"smarter-than-our-leaders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=51059","title":{"rendered":"Smarter Than Our Leaders"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Back during the 2008 presidential campaign, John McCain was right about one thing, anyway; despite all of governments foul-ups the fundamentals of the American economy are basically strong.<\/p>\n<p>We have ideas, and entrepreneurial energy, I don&#8217;t labor force that (2008 and 2012 elections not withstanding) we&#8217;re pretty smart and capable, and one of the worlds larger, wealthier consumer markets.  Those, among other things, give the American economy&#8217;s a degree of resilience that is going to be hard to extinguish, even after 14 years of flagrant overspending and six years of crypto-socialism.  <\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s the economy. Not the governments massive piling up of debt. That&#8217;s a whole &#8216;nother thing.<\/p>\n<p>Why does it matter? Because the fact that the American private market is bigger, stronger, and smarter than  its government \u2013 for now \u2013 may be <a href=\"http:\/\/mises.org\/library\/why-government-hasn%E2%80%99t-yet-managed-destroy-economy#.VM_wx-Emqgo.twitter\">the only thing that saved it from complete collapse<\/a> six years ago.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Back during the 2008 presidential campaign, John McCain was right about one thing, anyway; despite all of governments foul-ups the fundamentals of the American economy are basically strong.
