{"id":50978,"date":"2015-01-30T12:00:03","date_gmt":"2015-01-30T18:00:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=50978"},"modified":"2015-01-30T12:21:20","modified_gmt":"2015-01-30T18:21:20","slug":"the-media-and-the-screamingly-obvious","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=50978","title":{"rendered":"The Media And The Screamingly Obvious"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Monday, 68 year old Raymond Kmetz walked into the New Hope City Hall with a shotgun, shooting and wounding two police before other police killed him.<\/p>\n<p>And the Pioneer Press, in relating official Minnesota&#8217;s confusion as to how Mr. Kmetz got his gun, revealed a number of truths about the gun issue (for the multi-millionth time) that, for some, could be a teaching moment, if they&#8217;re smart enough to be taught.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The man who brought a pistol-grip shotgun to New Hope City Hall on Monday night and started firing at police officers before being gunned down was not legally allowed to have a firearm, authorities said Wednesday.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Wait &#8211; so now the media is telling us that people who aren&#8217;t supposed to have guns&#8230;<em>can get them<\/em>?<\/p>\n<p>Someone with a long history of mental illness, who had been incarcerated twice for making terroristic threats, subject to numerous restraining orders, and whose possession of a shotgun was a federal felony, was able to find a gun?<\/p>\n<p>The next thing you know, they&#8217;ll be telling us that people with felony records can get them!<\/p>\n<p>What next? \u00a0Juveniles with gang affiliations?<\/p>\n<p>The answer,\u00a0<em>obviously,\u00a0<\/em>is to disarm the sane and the law-abiding.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Monday, 68 year old Raymond Kmetz walked into the New Hope City Hall with a shotgun, shooting and wounding two police before other police killed him.
