{"id":5092,"date":"2010-07-25T18:54:31","date_gmt":"2010-07-25T23:54:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=5092"},"modified":"2010-07-25T19:24:00","modified_gmt":"2010-07-26T00:24:00","slug":"back-in-black-wikipedia-the-free-encyclopedia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=5092","title":{"rendered":"Noise Pollution"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There are so many entries in the &#8220;it just doesn&#8217;t seem possible&#8221; file in realizing that today is the thirtieth anniversary of the release of <em>Back In Black<\/em> by AC\/DC.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Back_in_Black\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/www.amiright.com\/album-covers\/images\/album-ACDC-Back-in-Black.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"420\" height=\"420\" \/>B<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The album &#8211; the first after the death of Bon Scott barely 17 months earlier &#8211; was a gloriously snotty blues-rock romp, the kind of thing every garage band in the world &#8211; including mine &#8211; thought they could pull off.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, few garage bands had a leather-lunged shrieker like Brian Johnson, or a blues-rock machine like Angus Young or &#8211; to me, the band&#8217;s signature &#8211; a metal-shredding rhythm player like Malcolm Young to base their sound around.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the part that blew my mind; <em>Back in Black, <\/em>with <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Back_in_Black\">49 million copies sold<\/a>, is the second biggest-selling album of all time (that&#8217;d be worldwide; it&#8217;s #5 in the US), and the biggest ever from a band.<\/p>\n<p>And the ultimate &#8220;it doesn&#8217;t seem possible&#8221;?<\/p>\n<p>That it was thirty years ago!<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s hard to write much about AC\/DC.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=BwxJ46HWXbA\">just let the band do the talking.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There are so many entries in the &#8220;it just doesn&#8217;t seem possible&#8221; file in realizing that today is the thirtieth anniversary of the release of Back In Black by AC\/DC.
