(With Update)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Someone in Rochester has taken a photo of a man who apparently has a valid Minnesota carry permit, put it on a sign, and posted it on their lawn &#8211; to wit:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?attachment_id=48042\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-48042\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-48042\" title=\"front-lawn-sign\" src=\"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/front-lawn-sign.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"533\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/front-lawn-sign.jpg 533w, http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/front-lawn-sign-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/front-lawn-sign-399x300.jpg 399w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 533px) 100vw, 533px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>KAAL TV in Rochester <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kaaltv.com\/article\/stories\/s3586421.shtml\">is on the story<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, if you follow the news and the law, you may legitimately ask &#8211; what precisely <em>is<\/em> &#8220;the story&#8221;?<\/p>\n<p>I can see two stories here:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Unless there&#8217;s been some accusation of an actual\u00a0crime, the &#8220;story&#8221; is that a law-abiding citizen is doing something that he (given that he presumably has a valid Minnesota carry permit, which proves he has a spotless criminal record) is\u00a0legally\u00a0entitled to do.<\/li>\n<li>One of the man&#8217;s neighbors is publicly harassing him for doing something perfectly legal.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I don&#8217;t know what angle KAAL is going to take &#8211; the &#8220;story&#8221; is going to run during their evening news tonight.<\/p>\n<p>I have emails in to the reporter and her news director.\u00a0\u00a0 Most reporters disdain responding to the peasantry, but we shall see.<\/p>\n<p>This will be a subject on the show tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p>UPDATE: \u00a0I got an email from the station&#8217;s news director. \u00a0I&#8217;m less concerned about the station&#8217;s motivations than by the neighbors&#8217;, at this point.<\/p>\n<p>This is less a matter of media bias to me (at this point) than certain peoples&#8217; intolerance, bigotry and penchant for drama.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Someone in Rochester has taken a photo of a man who apparently has a valid Minnesota carry permit, put it on a sign, and posted it on their lawn &#8211; to wit: KAAL TV in Rochester is on the story.
