In true, \u201cWhat\u2019s the Matter with Kansas\u201d fashion, I\u2019m not sure the Ports\u2014by supporting Democrats\u2014are operating in their own self-interest as small-business owners in Minnesota.<\/p>\n<p>But they do support the Democrats. Besides the sizable campaign donations, Lindsey Port recently wrote a letter to the editor supportive <a href=\"http:\/\/sunthisweek.com\/2014\/08\/21\/all-day-kindergarten-welcomed\">of the Democratic<\/a> cause.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>And we do mean <em>large <\/em>contributions; the Ports gave $1,000 to Roz Peterson&#8217;s undistinguished lump of a DFL opponent.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This is, of course, a DFL pattern.\u00a0 Four years ago, the DFL and the &#8220;Alliance for a Better Minnesota&#8221; and its media allies at &#8220;The Uptake&#8221;, produced a piece featuring a mother who was &#8220;boycotting Target&#8221; because of their pro-business campaign donation to the putatively &#8220;anti-gay&#8221; Tom Emmer.\u00a0 Of course, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=12317\">woman was an upper-middle-class DFL donor from the southwest suburbs<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The DFL.\u00a0 Fake outrage.\u00a0 Fake numbers.\u00a0 Fake people.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0Bill Glahn notes that the Dayton campaign&#8217;s latest TV ad &#8211; featuring a &#8220;beleaguered middle class family&#8221; &#8211; continues a long DFL tradition: The Ports are in no sense \u201cmiddle class.\u201d Steve Port owns his own businessin Burnsville, employing several staff.
