{"id":4694,"date":"2009-04-30T06:35:25","date_gmt":"2009-04-30T11:35:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=4694"},"modified":"2009-04-30T06:35:25","modified_gmt":"2009-04-30T11:35:25","slug":"insert-miracle-here","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=4694","title":{"rendered":"Insert Miracle Here"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Gary Gross notes that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.letfreedomringblog.com\/?p=4476\">the polls are starting to relent a little for the GOP nationally.<\/a> He quotes a Rasmussen Poll:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>For just the second time in more than five years of daily or weekly tracking, Republicans now lead Democrats in the latest edition of the Generic Congressional Ballot.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.looktruenorth.com\/component\/content\/article\/72-us-congressional\/7982-will-2010-be-another-big-democratic-year.html\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.looktruenorth.com\/images\/FreedomDogs\/looktruenorthsmall140.png\" \/><\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p><em>    A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 41% would vote for their district\u2019s Republican candidate while 38% would choose the Democrat. Thirty-one percent (31%) of conservative Democrats said they would vote for their district\u2019s Republican candidate.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Gross:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I don\u2019t doubt that that last sentence is giving Democratic strategists gray hair. Though there\u2019s no doubt that we\u2019ll see fluctuations between now and Election Day 2010, there\u2019s also no doubt that the Democrats have misread the electorate. The Democrats\u2019 misreading the election results has helped put the GOP in better shape than we\u2019ve been in a long time.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Yes, but there&#8217;s an asterisk there.\u00a0 We&#8217;ll come back to that.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I credit the change in the generic ballot to three things: President Obama\u2019s radical agenda, President Obama\u2019s arrogance and the House Republicans\u2019 principled stand against Obama\u2019s radical agenda. Obama\u2019s radical agenda has given conservatives something to fight against while the House Republicans\u2019 principled stance against that agenda is giving conservatives something to fight for.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Obama&#8217;s agenda is a factor.\u00a0 Congress adds the arrogance <em>and <\/em>the agenda, one that I think is going to turn out to be a drag on Obama.\u00a0 And the House GOP&#8217;s battle has been a blessing.<\/p>\n<p>But so far all that gives us is something to campaign <em>against<\/em>.\u00a0 Until the GOP has something to campaign <em>for <\/em>&#8211; a positive message &#8211; the good news cup is only half full.<\/p>\n<p>On the positive side &#8211; it can&#8217;t be that hard to craft a positive message when the executive branch is so amateurish and naive (Obama&#8217;s tongue-kiss of Hugo Chavez did <em>not <\/em>play well in middle America) and Congress is so gigantistic and arrogant.<\/p>\n<p>On the negative side: I don&#8217;t know that we have anything close to a standard-bearer for that message yet.<\/p>\n<p>Only seventeen months &#8217;til the next elections!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gary Gross notes that the polls are starting to relent a little for the GOP nationally.
