{"id":45541,"date":"2014-07-03T06:00:16","date_gmt":"2014-07-03T11:00:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=45541"},"modified":"2014-07-03T09:03:44","modified_gmt":"2014-07-03T14:03:44","slug":"polling","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=45541","title":{"rendered":"Polling"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A recent Quinnipiac poll sh<a href=\"http:\/\/hotair.com\/archives\/2014\/07\/02\/q-poll-obama-worst-president-since-wwii\/\">ows that 33 percent of Americans pick Obama as the worst President since World War 2<\/a>.\u00a0 Dubya comes in second at 28 percent.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>So let&#8217;s try it this way:\u00a0 Let&#8217;s rank the presidents since WW2.<\/p>\n<p>In the comments, respond with your rankings of the presidents since WW2, <em>in order from worst to best<\/em>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the complete list:\u00a0 Re-order them and leave them in the comments.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Truman<\/li>\n<li>Eisenhower<\/li>\n<li>Kennedy<\/li>\n<li>Lyndon Johnson<\/li>\n<li>Nixon<\/li>\n<li>Ford<\/li>\n<li>Carter<\/li>\n<li>Reagan<\/li>\n<li>George HW Bush<\/li>\n<li>Clinton<\/li>\n<li>George W Bush<\/li>\n<li>Obama.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>My vote is below the fold.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Note that I&#8217;m judging by results, here, not integrity or other personal qualities.<\/p>\n<p>My votes for worst president since World War 2 are, in order from Worst to Best:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Obama.<\/li>\n<li>Lyndon Johnson &#8211; it was LBJ that dove face-first into the culture of debt, and turned the superchargers on our entitlement culture. Time has muted his status as the Great Debtmonger and Entitlement-giver &#8211; but he deserves it.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Carter &#8211; Bad?\u00a0 Oh, yes.\u00a0 A terrible president.\u00a0 But he did a few useful things; in the wake of the collapse of his foreign policy, he actually started taking steps to rebuild the American military from its post-war nadir.\u00a0 And he had his moments as a deregulator as well as regulator.\u00a0 He meant well.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Nixon &#8211; I rate him worse than Dubya because he was a more enthusiastic Keynesian.\u00a0 On the other hand, he saved Israel, and left to his devices we might have gotten out of Vietnam in 1969 with a tenable standoff (that would likely have resolved into a German-style reunification by now), rather than in 1975 in defeat and genocide.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>George W Bush &#8211; he spent like a Democrat. That&#8217;s a mortal sin for a conservative.\u00a0 On the other hand, I believe time will redeem his foreign policy.<\/li>\n<li>Ford &#8211; This one is mostly by omission; he wasn&#8217;t President long enough to do either good or damage.<\/li>\n<li>Truman<\/li>\n<li>George HW Bush<\/li>\n<li>Clinton &#8211; say what you will; when he started triangulating to the right after 1994, he governed like a conservative. It was a conservatism of convenience, but let&#8217;s give credit where due. I&#8217;m obviously not grading on personal integrity, here.<\/li>\n<li>Kennedy &#8211; I dock JFK a position for\u00a0having one of the most overrated foreign policy legacies before Obama&#8217;s, and sending a generation of eager bobbleheads into &#8220;public service&#8221; with the worst thing possible; idealism about &#8220;public service&#8221;.\u00a0 But he&#8217;s ahead of Clinton because he actually cut taxes.<\/li>\n<li>Eisenhower<\/li>\n<li>Reagan, by a nose.\u00a0 An elephant&#8217;s nose, as it happens.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A recent Quinnipiac poll shows that 33 percent of Americans pick Obama as the worst President since World War 2.\u00a0 Dubya comes in second at 28 percent.\u00a0 So let&#8217;s try it this way:\u00a0 Let&#8217;s rank the presidents since WW2.
