{"id":45169,"date":"2014-06-19T12:10:41","date_gmt":"2014-06-19T17:10:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=45169"},"modified":"2014-06-19T12:14:24","modified_gmt":"2014-06-19T17:14:24","slug":"the-dog-ate-our-hard-drive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=45169","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;The Dog Ate Our Hard Drive&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Now the Administration is <a href=\"http:\/\/hotair.com\/archives\/2014\/06\/19\/lerner-e-mails-likely-gone-forever-irs-claims-as-hard-drive-was-thrown-away\/\">claiming that Lois Lerner&#8217;s hard drive was lost, destroyed or recycled<\/a>, so her emails may be lost forever.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m not a networking guy, but I still call BS.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps if&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lois Lerner&#8217;s hard drive<\/li>\n<li>Lerner&#8217;s work-group&#8217;s email server&#8217;s hard drive<\/li>\n<li>The RAID (large\u00a0redundant hard-disk)\u00a0array(s) and\/or\u00a0backup tape(s)\u00a0to which Lerner&#8217;s work group email server backed up <em>its <\/em>emails<\/li>\n<li>Any of the number of tapes, and\/or mirrors of RAID arrays, to which the emails had been backed up in the interest of &#8220;disaster recovery&#8221;&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#8230;(in other words, the exact same level of backup to which any private entity would be required to adhere to by law, or face default judgment in the event of litigation, including (especially!) from the IRS, and the level of backup all levels of all serious business practice to make sure they <em>can <\/em>respond to legal action, to say nothing of things like, well, hard drives going bad)&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;had <em>all <\/em>been &#8220;lost, destroyed or recycled&#8221;, they&#8217;d have a point.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Odds?<\/p>\n<p>INCIDENTAL NOTE:\u00a0 This post is #11,000 since November, 2006.\u00a0 Apropos nothing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Now the Administration is claiming that Lois Lerner&#8217;s hard drive was lost, destroyed or recycled, so her emails may be lost forever.\u00a0 I&#8217;m not a networking guy, but I still call BS.
