{"id":4390,"date":"2009-03-13T08:14:20","date_gmt":"2009-03-13T13:14:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=4390"},"modified":"2009-03-13T08:14:20","modified_gmt":"2009-03-13T13:14:20","slug":"we-dont-want-her-you-can-have-her","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=4390","title":{"rendered":"We Don&#8217;t Want Her, You Can Have Her"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>St. Paul Police say <a href=\"http:\/\/www.myfoxtwincities.com\/dpp\/news\/parole_debate_sara_jane_olson_march_11_2009\">they&#8217;d just as soon Kathleen Soliah stay in California <\/a>after her upcoming parole.<\/p>\n<p>Cali agrees (I add emphasis):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;The police officers on both ends of this case are united in their opposition to Ms. Soliah&#8217;s attempt to once again run away from her crimes,&#8221; said LAPPL President Paul Weber. &#8220;Governor Schwarzenegger has the power to stop her this time, and we are asking that he exercise that power.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<strong>Returning Soliah to the same neighborhood that harbored her during her 24-year flight from justice is hardly conducive to strict parole monitoring<\/strong>,&#8221; St. Paul Police Federation President Dave Titus wrote in his letter to the governor. &#8220;When Soliah has paid her entire debt to California, then and only then, should she be allowed to live where she chooses. Making parole convenient for the perpetrator is a travesty of justice.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In 1975, Olson, as part of radical group SLA, participated in two failed pipe-bomb attempts on Los Angeles Police squad cars and a bank robbery in which one person was killed.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Let nobody forget &#8211; that &#8220;one person&#8221; was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.law.com\/regionals\/ca\/opinions\/stories\/edt1219_kraw.shtml\">42 year old Myrna Opsahl<\/a>. \u00a0 Soliah&#8217;s &#8220;Symbionese Liberation Army murdered the mother of four in utter cold blood &#8211; Opsahl was in the wrong place at the wrong time &#8211; on April 21, 1974.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In [Patricia] Hearst&#8217;s account, Olson later asks Emily Harris, who had been listening to radio reports, &#8220;How&#8217;s the woman who was shot?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Oh, she&#8217;s dead,&#8221; replied Emily Harris, airily. &#8220;But it really doesn&#8217;t matter. She was a bourgeois pig anyway. Her husband is a doctor. He was at the hospital where they brought her.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Hearst says that Bill Harris mocked Opsahl&#8217;s death, referring to her as &#8220;good, old Myrna&#8221; and congratulated the robbers for having committed a &#8220;gas chamber&#8221; offense.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It was two years ago <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=966\">Tara McKelvey profiled Soliah&#8217;s family here in the Twin Cities <\/a>in <em>Marie Claire<\/em>. They still think <em>Soliah <\/em>is the victim.<\/p>\n<p>In a way, I hope California lets her come back.
