{"id":43689,"date":"2014-05-09T12:00:30","date_gmt":"2014-05-09T17:00:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=43689"},"modified":"2014-05-09T06:14:47","modified_gmt":"2014-05-09T11:14:47","slug":"be-thankful-peasants","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=43689","title":{"rendered":"Be Thankful, Peasants"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two billion in new taxes.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?attachment_id=35213\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-35213\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-35213\" title=\"DaytonDustbowl\" src=\"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/DaytonDustbowl.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"152\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A 1.2 billion dollar surplus (thanks, GOP majority from 2011-2012!), which means &#8220;unexpected&#8221; money collected in taxes, and is money that is lost from the economy.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s a total of $3.2 billion\u00a0<em>extra\u00a0<\/em>dollars sucked out of the Minnesota economy &#8211; about $600 for every man, woman and child in the state, or close to $1,000 for every taxpayer.<\/p>\n<p>And we&#8217;re supposed to be thankful that the DFL majority deigns to &#8220;give&#8221; us $550 million &#8220;back&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s about 17 cents on the dollar.<\/p>\n<p>If you gave your cashier a $20 bill for a $15 meal, and you got 85 cents in change, I&#8217;m going to guess you wouldn&#8217;t be &#8220;thankful&#8221;&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two billion in new taxes.
