One of the problems with the current “universal consensus” among “climatologists” in re Global Warming, leaving aside the legitimate questions about the science involved and, beyond that, the political conclusion that the “science” is driving, is the track record of “settled science” from a previous generation of scientific chicken littles.<\/p>\n
That’s right – the assembled brain trust of scientists from the original “Earth Day” (whose 34th or 35th go-around was last Tuesday), and the “settled science” of their predictions:<\/p>\n
1. \u201cCivilization will end within 15 or 30 years unless immediate action is taken against problems facing mankind.\u201d \u2014 Harvard biologist George Wald<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Vague, untestable…settled!<\/p>\n
3. \u201cMan must stop pollution and conserve his resources, not merely to enhance existence but to save the race from intolerable deterioration and possible extinction.\u201d \u2014 New York Times editorial<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

4. \u201cPopulation will inevitably and completely outstrip whatever small increases in food supplies we make. The death rate will increase until at least 100-200 million people per year will be starving to death during the next ten years.\u201d \u2014 Stanford University biologist Paul Ehrlich<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Reading an Ehrlich article when I was probably 7-8 years old (in Readers Digest) scared the crap out of me; it gave me nightmares for weeks.<\/p>\n
