And MPR’s “Poligraph” actually out-and-out called Mark Dayton “misleading<\/a>“:<\/p>\n

It\u2019s true that the legislature passed and Dayton signed $508 million in tax relief this session, and that the bill will benefit a wide swath of Minnesotans.<\/p>\n

However, to say that these tax cuts are new is a bit of a stretch. Nearly half come from making sure Minnesota\u2019s tax rules match federal tax rules. And in part, there won\u2019t be a lapse in those tax benefits.<\/span><\/p>\n

Another large part of the bill comes from repealing sales taxes that were put into law only a year ago, one of which hadn\u2019t even kicked in yet.<\/span><\/p>\n

Finally, it\u2019s important to note that Dayton and the DFL legislature raised taxes last year, too, to the tune of $2.1 billion. That means Minnesotans will still be paying more than they used to, though some will be paying less.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dayton\u2019s claim leans toward misleading.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

In the same sense that Michael Jackson “leaned toward” weird.<\/p>\n

But let’s not split hairs. \u00a0It’s MPR, actually coming out and saying Dayton’s “tax cut” claim is BS.<\/p>\n

Never thought I’d see it.<\/p>\n
