I’ve never had much patience for sci-fi buffs.\u00a0 Maybe it was the sci-fi buffs I spent my time around – I don’t know – but their (stereotypically) prickly anal-retentiveness over their genre always rubbed me the wrong way.\u00a0<\/p>\n

And so I never really understood the whole “Firefly” thing – especially the show’s fans’ anger over the show’s (I gathered from listening to the tribe talking) sudden cancellation.\u00a0\u00a0 But working in technology as I do, I heard a lot <\/em>of complaints.<\/p>\n

No.\u00a0 A lot<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Never could figure out what the fuss was about.<\/p>\n

Then, last year, I finally fired up Netflix Streaming.\u00a0 And Firefly – <\/em>a “space western” produced by Joss Whedon – was one of the options.<\/p>\n

So I started watching.\u00a0<\/p>\n

And about ten days later, after getting to the end of episode 14, I started looking for the next epi.\u00a0<\/p>\n

And looking.<\/p>\n

And looking.<\/p>\n

And remembering the growls and howls of my co-worker fanboys and fangirls.<\/p>\n

And then I <\/em>got angry.\u00a0 And then just sad and disappointed at the waste of so much…potential.\u00a0<\/p>\n

And I stayed a little of both.<\/p>\n

Until today<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

UPDATE:\u00a0 Or not.\u00a0<\/p>\n

I guess it’s karma; for all the times I’ve yanked others’ chains, it’s probably fitting that I not only fell for a April Fools joke, but one that’s been around for a few years.\u00a0<\/p>\n

OK.\u00a0 The universe is at balance.\u00a0<\/p>\n

For now.<\/p>\n
