Say what you will about Minnesota’s gun-control movement – and I certainly have over the past 12 years on this blog – it’s always been local.\u00a0 Even “Grass Roots”, even if only in the sense that “there just isn’t that much grass out there”.\u00a0<\/p>\n
And the movement’s leadership was at least local; while\u00a0Rep. Heather Martens (DFL, 66A) has\u00a0never, not once, made\u00a0a significant\u00a0factual assertion <\/a>about the Second Amendment, gun rights or the law-abiding gun owner; Jane Kay is a frothing\u00a0bigot<\/a>; Joan Peterson is just insane<\/a>.\u00a0 Together, they created a legacy of PR incompetence<\/a>, in conjunction with a local media which, once bought-off by the Joyce Foundation<\/a>, spent the better part of\u00a0a year giving Martens, Kay and Peterson a rhetorical tongue-b<\/a>ath – or just making things up<\/a>\u00a0to fit the narrative.\u00a0<\/p>\n But it was local.<\/p>\n But now, the local gun control “movement” seems to be entirely run from Michael Bloomberg’s offices.\u00a0 The face of Minnesota’s anti-civil-rights movement has morphed from the doddering,\u00a0morally-incontinent\u00a0visages of Martens, Kay and Peterson to those of a crew of highly-paid lobbyists who’ve never been publicly associated with gun control, but do <\/em>know how to spend Bloomberg money.\u00a0<\/p>\n Which is ironic, since the last has spent the past two years demonizing conservative groups like ALEC for “copying and pasting” bills and being “under the control of lobbyists”.\u00a0<\/p>\n Of course, the entire war on ALEC was a case of applied Berg’s Seventh Law; when lefties complain about a conservative behavior, they’re deflecting from the same or worse on their part.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n Minnesota’s anti-civil-rights “movement”, an\u00e6mic as it has always been,\u00a0has evolved from incompetent low-grade astroturf to pure, out-of-state funded carpetbagging colonial status.\u00a0<\/p>\n You’ve come a long way, baby.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Say what you will about Minnesota’s gun-control movement – and I certainly have over the past 12 years on this blog – it’s always been local.\u00a0 Even “Grass Roots”, even if only in the sense that “there just isn’t that much grass out there”.\u00a0 And the movement’s leadership was at least local; while\u00a0Rep.
