Rush anticipated the President would call for an increase in the Minimum Wage to $10 per hour in the State of the Union address.\u00a0 A caller said Republicans should see his $10 and raise him to $30.\u00a0 That would make people to see how silly the Minimum Wage is so they\u2019d stop talking about it.<\/p>\n
That\u2019s a bad idea.\u00a0 The Minimum Wage is an emotional issue \u2013 poor people are suffering because wicked businesses won\u2019t pay fair wages.\u00a0 Explaining the economics of it in a logical, orderly, methodical way is proof that you\u2019re a heartless bastard who doesn\u2019t care about fairness and hates the poor.<\/p>\n
Feeling is easy and everybody does it. \u00a0Thinking is hard so nobody does it.\u00a0 Playing to Democrat strength is a bad idea just as raising the minimum wage is a bad idea.\u00a0 Don\u2019t offer $30, don\u2019t even offer $10: they might just take you up on it and later, when the bad consequences hit, it\u2019ll be your fault for suggesting it.<\/p>\n
Yes, Democrats will call you heartless.\u00a0 That will suck.\u00a0 Tough.\u00a0 Embrace the suck and do the right thing anyway.<\/p>\n
