Icelandic website<\/em>\u00a0<\/em>Visir<\/em><\/a>\u00a0<\/em>later named the man as Sigrid Oscar J\u00f3nasd\u00f3ttur and his sister Sigridur J\u00f3nasd\u00f3ttir blamed poor health care for the mentally ill for the man\u2019s death. \u201cThere are no resources for these people,\u201d she told the site.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

That story doesn’t ring true.\u00a0 Iceland has nationalized health care<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Healthcare in\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>Iceland<\/strong><\/em><\/a>\u00a0is\u00a0<\/em>universal<\/em><\/a>. The healthcare system is largely paid for by taxes (85%) and to some extent by service fees (15%) and is administrated by the\u00a0<\/em>Ministry of Welfare<\/em><\/a>. A considerable portion of government spending is assigned to healthcare. There is almost no private health insurance in Iceland and no private hospitals.[<\/a><\/sup><\/em><\/p>\n

Since it’s national health care, it\u00a0MUST\u00a0be the best possible\u00a0system.\u00a0 We know thatfrom endless assurances by Democrats that nationalized, universal care is the key to the best health for all.\u00a0 So this\u00a0shooting shows\u00a0obviously some other plot afoot.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n
