{"id":4030,"date":"2009-01-20T12:00:25","date_gmt":"2009-01-20T17:00:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=4030"},"modified":"2009-01-20T10:25:34","modified_gmt":"2009-01-20T15:25:34","slug":"as-an-american-first-and-foremost","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=4030","title":{"rendered":"As An American First And Foremost&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8230;I wish President Obama all the best.\u00a0 It would be a great thing for this country if he were not a resounding flop.<\/p>\n<p>As a pragmatist who pays attention to history?\u00a0 I think Obama, with his gigantistic statist ambitions and &#8220;vote present&#8221; mentality, has the potential to be the worst, weakest, most disastrous president of my cognitive lifetime.\u00a0 And that&#8217;s <em>if <\/em>his more authoritarian notions &#8211; the permanent compaign, the clamping down on freedom of speech &#8211; don&#8217;t come to pass.<\/p>\n<p>For today, I&#8217;ll focus on the former.\u00a0 Good luck, Mr. President.\u00a0 Unlike some of your more deranged fans&#8217; behavior over the past eight years, my fellow conservatives and I are a <em>loyal <\/em>opposition.<\/p>\n<p>But we are watching.\u00a0 You get no more free passes.\u00a0 And while conservatism&#8217;s been on the ropes for the past four years, we&#8217;re in much better shape for a comeback than, say 35 years ago.\u00a0 Another Gingrich Revolution awaits you in two years if you&#8217;re not a <em>whole <\/em>lot smarter than your administration seems to be starting out.<\/p>\n<p>At any rate, good luck and God Bless America.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8230;I wish President Obama all the best.\u00a0 It would be a great thing for this country if he were not a resounding flop.
