Took a drive around town. Suddenly felt very nostalgic.<\/p>\n<p>I called down to the Twin Cities, telling one of the friends who&#8217;d volunteered a couch that I&#8217;d be there tomorrow afternoon. I got the directions to the apartment &#8211; it was in Burnsville, a big &#8216;burb about 10 miles south of Downtown Minneapolis. I marked the exact location on the map, and memorized <em>exactly<\/em> how to get there.<\/p>\n<p>I pictured the route in my mind; the long churn down I94, followed by the slow, curvy glide of the 494 South Metro bypass, to the gastric-shunt-straight blast down 35W, to Cliff Road, then over to River Hills Drive&#8230;I could recite it in my sleep.
